We taught you to tell the time when you were three! We had to...or we would have gone around the twist 'cause we were SO sick of being up half the night 'playing' with you and then 'waking up' with you at 5:00am! So, we taught you how to read 6:30 on the clock and you were not allowed to come out of your room until then! It worked! You just played in your room until that time!
But, in your later years, you would still 'play' for half the night but we didn't have to wake up with you...only as you snuck back home in those wee small hours thinking that we wouldn't hear you! Saturday morning quite often consisted of 'playing' until about 4 or 5 o'clock and the bed for the rest of the morning!
You teenagers live in a topsy-turvy world!
